My husband and I enjoyed our stay in the Riverview Suite. Our room was clean and comfortable and we loved having the porch. It had a nice swing for relaxing and a little table where we ate breakfast each morning. Breakfast was delicious: pumpkin bread/pancakes (we weren’t really sure what to call them but we ate them down to the crumbs), pesto quiche, scones, and fruit. We decided to have breakfast served in our suite so we could enjoy it on the porch. Rochelle, our host, was the perfect combination of solicitous and unobtrusive.

One note: if you are thinking of going downtown, you might as well leave your car at Aurora Staples and walk (particularly if it is a weekend and the weather is decent). By the time we found parking downtown, we went much closer than we would have been if we had walked. Plus, given the size of the breakfast, we really needed to get in a few steps! More

We were guests in the St. Croix room for one night (wish it were more!). My husband and I were on a little getaway and when looking for accommodations, found Aurora Staples Inn and we're so happy we did! Rachelle greeted us, showed us around the Inn and to our room. In moments she delivered a welcome tray with wine, grapes, cheese spread and crackers. She made dinner suggestions and we had a near perfect meal at Marx, which was a short walk away. Our room had everything we needed, was perfectly clean and furnished beautifully. The next morning coffee was delivered to our room in advance of breakfast, which was a really nice touch. Breakfast included a fruit bowl (much more special than this sounds), a souffle, and a raspberry scone. We were thrilled with our stay and will recommend it to others plus hope to be back. More

We saw all the rooms in the main house and they were all tastefully decorated. The common areas were very nice as well. Breakfast was tasty. We were there on a short get away for our 35th anniversary and really enjoyed the time away in the peaceful setting close to downtown shops and restaurants.

My wife and I took a couple of days to get away and celebrate our second anniversary. We were delighted that we were able to stay in the Carriage House! We have to admit because of being there on a Monday and Tuesday in the winter, we were spoiled being the only guests at the Aurora Staples Inn! However, we got the impression that we would have been spoiled if the place had been full.
The owner/manager, Rachelle, exuded the kind of graceful personality that would make anyone feel like they were the most important guests there.
The breakfasts served were opulent and delicious! The bed was extremely comfortable, the Carriage House was cozy and the atmosphere was charming. We loved the jacuzzi and fireplace! Rachel and her staff made us feel very at home yet we had all the privacy we desired.
We highly recommend Aurora Staples Inn; we cannot imagine anyone being disappointed!

  •   Lovely Victorian charm. Quiet. Super clean. Immaculate. The only sound on the porch was the wind rustling the American flag and we spent a lot of time reading on the porch or walking to town to shop or dine. Rachelle is a lovely person and skilled inn-keeper. Breakfast was delightful as was the conversation around the table. One couple from Sweden, one from NYC, one from Minneapolis and one from N' Michigan. We stayed in the St. Croix Suite and could have moved in for a year. A return trip. Soon.

My husband and I stayed one night in the carriage house and wish we would have stayed another night. We were looking for a quiet, romantic getaway to celebrate our anniversary and to not be disturbed. The carriage house was so private, it was exactly what we were looking for. Loved that it had a covered parking space right next to the door. The room was clean, extremely spacious with separate bathroom and lots of great books, some games and even enjoyed the classical music selection and CD player, something we typically wouldn’t have used. Lots of cute small extras in the room, wine and snacks brought to the room when we arrived, sittinging room with blanket and books. Great bonus was the hidden TV and WiFi. The jetted tub is what made us choose this room with the 3 sides fireplace and it did not disappoint! But probably the best part of the stay was the large, extremely comfortable bed. We have 3 small children so to get a quiet, restful nights sleep is priceless. The bed was so comfortable and the sheets were soft and smooth. Not sure if it was a weighted blanket or what but it truly was just the most comfortable bed. I’m not a huge breakfast food person but this breakfast was one I more then enjoyed! The butterscotch waffles were amazing and the coffee was unique and delicious. Everything on the tray was...       We stayed in the St. Croix Suite for our 29th anniversary and this was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast. Rachelle did a wonderful job sharing the history of this unique house-very impressed that quite a bit of the original woodwork is still in place! After we were shown to our room, Rachelle brought us up some wine and a plate of cheese, crackers and grapes. We were impressed with how well the windows opened given the age of the house and listened to the birds for awhile before heading downtown for dinner. The bed was extremely comfortable and we LOVED the sheets. Breakfast in the morning was quiche, yogurt with fruit, sausage and a blueberry scone - extremely yummy! The shower in the bathroom was amazing as well as the soaps! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be recommending this lovely B&B to all our friends! Thank you Rachelle! More

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary this year by staying in the Carriage House at The Aurora Staples Inn. We select a different B&B each year and I have to say this is our favorite so far (14 years)! The Carriage House is separate from the main house with it's own covered parking. Beautiful room, gas fireplace, reading area and a huge hot tub made a cold rainy weekend bearable! The proprietor (Rachelle) was very accommodating and friendly. Main house is gorgeous and we may be back next year to try one of the main residence rooms. Highly recommended! More

I strongly recommend the Aurora Staples Inn to anyone staying in Stillwater! My wife and I stayed in this Bed & Breakfast for our second wedding anniversary and the experience exceeded all our expectations. We stayed in the Carriage House which is a private room separate from the main house that includes a parking space under a carport. The location is convenient and only around an eight-minute walk to central downtown Stillwater and the riverfront.

Upon arrival we received a warm greeting from the Innkeeper who told us about the history of the house, gave us a tour of the various rooms and lounge area, and delivered a wine and cheese assortment to our room. Breakfast and coffee were also delivered the next morning; it was a great variety of food and everything tasted great. Checkout was quick and easy.
